Driveway from street to alley not such a great plan
We have been living peaceably in our house for over a year now. No incidents, no crime, no nothing. Not even petty theft from the porch! (although I wouldn't want that grotty Weber Kettle either) The only thing that continues to aggravate me and the Geek is the use of our driveway as a cut through. It runs from the alley to the street and serves as a nearly mid-block short cut. I'm sure the renters who lived here never minded the foot traffic, but it is not OK with us.
I've been known to stick my head out of the door many a time and yell for someone not to walk through our driveway. The convenience of having a second exit from the driveway is slightly outweighed by the fact that people in the yard could find tempting ways to break in. Our basement door is visible if you walk through, and so are the back windows. The Geek and I had a discussion this morning about whether or not we should shoot them with his airsoft gun if we see them. I vote yes (and would be perfectly within TN state laws to do so as long as we had a sign) and he votes no, since he doesn't want to bring the wrath of any local gangs down on our house.
What do you think?

Absolutely no! In my opinion, if someone sees you with an airsoft gun, they are likely to pull their non-airsoft gun on you.
Not that I have experience with that....
Maybe stop by the Crime Prevention Meeting one Thursday and see if anyone there has suggestions.
While EXTREMELY tempting, I must agree with my friend. You never know what the other guy is packing. Same reason why I plead with hubby not to act upon his road rage. Wouldn't want to bright-light the idiot with a gun under the seat.
Consider this a fourth vote in that regard.
Post signs all day long. Maybe put things in the way to make it look less convenient.
Maybe hang the airsoft guns in the up stairs window...
But don't shoot them. I wouldn't even be yelling at them.
That is the best sign! My sister has been begging my Dad for years to let her put one up in our yard. I'd agree with everyone one this one and suggest not yelling or pulling the airsoft gun on them (as funny as that would be). You're just going to make them mad and then you'll really have problems. Maybe get a dog that looks like it'd eat them alive- that's my only (non helpful) suggestion. :)
You guys are no fun. I am not actually serious! Sigh. I've been reading the list-serve too much I guess. It's all guns and politics over there. However, I will stand up for my right to ask them not to walk through my yard, even if I don't ping them with a resin b.b.. It is illegal, you know.
i'm a visual learner... i dont' get it. but i don't even let the kids walk on our neighboring grass if i can help it... and it really bugs me when the one guy (from who knows where?) walks his little dog along the street and lets him pee in OUR yard! argh!
